Stamp carving

It's been a long time since I last posted anything craft related~ But I still can't keep from making stuff with my hands, especially when I feel stressed out XD So half of them (the cats and small birds) are from my exam period, made during reviewing pauses (10 minutes at a time XD) Because I can shut my brain down when crafting (but not when drawing...)

Thanks to for introducing me to rubber stamp carving~ The principle is simple : you draw your design with a pencil on tracing paper, and then press the paper to the rubber surface. The pencil lines transfer quite well to the rubber, and then you cut out your design~ I used materials bought at Junku, a japanese bookshop in Paris. Stamp carving is... addictive. XD The rubber is sold in rectangles, all this is from a 148x100mm block.

The butterfly is inspired from the design on the rubber package, all other designs are my own You can see the tracing paper used for the latest ones in the bottom right corner. The carving knives come in a set (I got the set with fine blades only <3). There is a straight knife (red) that's used for multipurpose cutting, a pointed groove knife (blue) and a round groove knife (yellow). I hardly ever use the yellow one though, it's not precise enough for what I need XD I hear normal rubbers work too, but I guess they are more fragile in the end...
